in Sumter, South Carolina in 1986. He joined the U.S. Navy
and was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. During his enlistment,
he traveled to several countries in the Mediterranean Sea,
Spain, France, Italy, Turkey, Israel, and the Caribbean Islands.
